Windy Wellington!

They call it that for a reason!!

After a late arrival due to a delayed flight, we spent our first day visiting the Te Papa Museum and strolling the Queen's Wharf. Luke spied the helicopter and was immediately petitioning for a flight the next day. But the “Introducing Te Papa” Tour through the Te Papa Museum was worth it. Did you know that Wellington gets an earthquake everyday ranging between ½ and 1 on the Richter Scale?? There was a Collosal Squid pulled up 5 years ago from the depths of the Southern Ocean, 4.5 metres long and accidentally caught by fishermen.

 Day 2
Wellington  Lord of the Rings Tour #1
This was Dad's day! We drove around Wellington and were shown scenes from the Lord of The Rings film. We walked through a forest on Mt Victoria, in central Wellington and hid where the hobbits hid, visited the set for Rivendell and posed as Legolas. We walked through the same park as Gandalf and Saroman, and saw where Minas Tirith and Helms Deep were filmed.

We also  got to fly in a helicopter (Hughs 500) and we got to sit in the front seat! The view was spectacular as we got to see the whole city!

Overall, it was a ver y enjoyable stay in Wellington.
We all got do something we wanted to do!
Can't wait to see what new experiences other cities will bring us.
Tommorow, it's a long day of travelling, by boat AND train, it's going to be exhausting!
